Service Animals
The Coffee County School System complies with all state and federal laws and regulations regarding the use of service animals. There may be occasions when a trained service animal is present on campus to assist an individual with a disability. Service animals are working animals that perform specific tasks and should not be approached, petted, fed, or distracted while they are working.
Additionally, one of our School Resource Officers in Coffee County Schools is the handler for a trained facility dog. From time to time, the officer and the facility dog visit our school campuses to provide students with opportunities for positive interaction and support.
If your child has a medically significant allergy to dogs or another health concern related to the presence of a service animal on campus, please notify the school principal so we can work with you to determine appropriate accommodations.
